“We had identified the necessity to implement a pan European mail solution to service the requirements of our business units in Ireland, England and Germany.The requirement in the UK was to architect and implement an entirely new MS Exchange 2003 fully redundant and clustered email infrastructure with EMC SAN attached performance optimised storage. The migration strategy employed by TerraAlto enabled all existing 1200 MS Exchange 2000 users to be migrated to the new solution in a near transparent manner, with no interruption to the business users in the performance of their regular duties. In Ireland and Germany, the implementation strategy was considerably more complex as this part of the project required the migration of over 1300 users from Lotus Notes to MS Exchange 2003. As the email platforms involved use completely different technologies, the project team had to ensure that the migration strategy employed minimised the interruption to the business user, while maintaining the inter-operability of the email functions between the 2 email platforms.
